A material passport made in C_passport® consists of four layers: end product, product, component and raw materials. The end product is the finished product, complete, finished and ready for shipping. This end product could contain products, parts of the end-product that could be sold separately or used for replacement. Products consists of components, parts that are distinguishable from each other and replaceable. In the end, all of the components are made of raw materials e.g. metals, plastics, minerals or biogenic materials.
The layers in C_passport® offer you to digitize your products composition in great detail though this is not required. Some products may not consist of four (or more) layers thus leading to a passport with only an end product and components for example. There is no right or wrong, only added value in making your C_passport® as complete as possible.
